Cheyenne's Herding Instinct Test The day started early and the weather was beautiful. We left the house at 8:00 AM bound for Vacaville, a place I'd never been. Of course, I had forgotten the camera and had to stop on the way and get a disposable one, which is why these are not the best photos. We arrived and started off with a lecture from the trainer, then went to get our dogs one by one. When Cheyenne's turn came, we entered the arena with the trainer and 3 sheep. I demonstrated that Cheyenne would sit and come to me offleash, then the trainer attached a lead about 20 feet long. Cheyenne had never seen sheep but she was not intimidated at all like I thought she would be. She went to work and it was amazing to watch her instinct kick in! When one sheep would break off, she'd go after it and bring it back to the others. She kept the sheep grouped and stayed balanced with the trainer. Her "report card" said she had excellent potential, and I think I've been bitten by the herding bug! See our pictures below. They are dark, but you can still see the smile on Cheyenne's face in some.
More pictures are here of other Rotties who tested this day also. The event was sponsored by my local Rottweiler club and we all had a blast in the sun!! * This is webpage is my own personal pages
